Online store conversion rate optimization (CRO)

I help you make informed, data-driven decisions instead of relying on opinions and intuition. I analyze data and user behavior, form hypotheses and run A/B tests.

The problems that most often block sales

  • Low conversion rates

Traffic is growing, but sales are flat. The store gets thousands of visits, yet customers leave without buying.

  • Low mobile conversion

Most traffic comes from mobile, but conversion is lower than on desktop. It is often the result of neglecting the mobile version of the store.

  • High cart abandonment rate

Customers add products to the cart but drop off along the checkout path or before paying.

  • Making changes or a redesign

Changes should be backed by hard data on user behavior. Otherwise you are acting on intuition, and the changes you make can hurt sales.

What does conversion rate optimization involve?

Analytics and business goals

  • Setting business goals and key metrics
  • Auditing the GA4 and Google Tag Manager setup
  • Verifying that store events are tracked correctly

Quantitative analysis

  • Analysis of key sales metrics
  • Purchase funnel broken down by device and traffic source
  • Identifying the stages with the highest drop-off

Qualitative analysis

  • Analysis of session recordings and heatmaps
  • Heuristic audit of the purchase path
  • Finding the causes of the losses visible in the data

Hypotheses and priorities

  • Developing hypotheses based on the analysis
  • Ordering tests by potential and strength of evidence
  • Success criteria defined before the test starts

A/B tests and implementation

  • Designing the test and calculating the sample size
  • Launching the A/B test
  • Analyzing the results and deciding on implementation
  • Insights feeding the next hypotheses

How do I run A/B tests?

I analyze the data

I analyze data and user behavior. I look for places where customers run into difficulties and for changes worth testing. I assess whether traffic volume and data quality allow a reliable result.

I form a hypothesis

I define the problem I want to solve and the change I want to test. I set the effect I want to achieve and how I will measure the impact of the change.

I prepare a new version

I design and implement a variant with the planned change. I check that it works correctly on the site and across devices, and that tracking records the data needed.

I launch the test

I launch the test and monitor it. I check the traffic split, how the variants work and whether tracking is correct. I react to problems that could distort the results.

I evaluate the results

I analyze the results and compare both versions against the defined goal. I check whether the data collected is enough to assess the impact of the change and make a decision.

I use the insights

Based on the results, I decide what to do with the tested change: implement it, modify it or go back to the current version. I use the insights to plan the next steps.

How long does it take and when will you see results?

  • Tracking and analysis come first

I start by checking analytics and analyzing the data, so hypotheses are based on reliable numbers, not assumptions.

  • A test runs as long as traffic requires

The length of a single test depends on the number of sessions and orders in the store. I end it when the result is reliable, not after a fixed number of days.

  • Results grow with every cycle

The first changes go live after the tests are completed, and each following cycle builds on the result. That is why I run conversion optimization as an ongoing partnership.

What do you gain from conversion rate optimization?

  • More orders without a bigger budget

I work with the traffic you already have. Higher conversion turns into sales without increasing your ad spend.

  • Lower cost per order

The same campaign brings more sales at a higher conversion rate, so every order costs less.

  • Data-driven changes

I don't make decisions based on intuition. Every change comes from the correct interpretation of analytics metrics and customer behavior.

  • Analysis and implementation in one place

You get a list of recommendations that I can implement for you efficiently, or that you can hand over to your team.

  • Results that last

An improved purchase path works the same for traffic from ads, search, newsletters and returning customers. You don't pay for it again with every visit.

  • Knowledge of how your customers buy

After a few months you know what your customers are looking for, what holds them back and what convinces them to buy. You gain knowledge you can use in many other areas of your business.

Intensell built my website for me, including the graphics and setting it up on the server. Working together was really pleasant and hassle-free. Great contact at every stage, quick replies and openness to feedback, which made the whole process much easier. We also had status meetings that were well prepared and to the point, and each stage of the project was approved as we went. I highly recommend working with this team! And on top of that, they are simply great to talk to – a relaxed but professional atmosphere. :)

Frequently asked questions

What is conversion rate optimization?
Conversion rate optimization is analyzing user behavior and making changes that increase the share of people who buy. It covers, among other things, analysis of data, the sales funnel, store performance, the offer, product pages, the cart and checkout.
What should my conversion rate be?
There is no single correct conversion rate for every store. It depends on, among other things, the industry, product prices, traffic sources and other individual factors. That is why a store should be compared primarily with its own past results and the relevant traffic segments.
How do I calculate the conversion rate of an online store?
The conversion rate is calculated by dividing the number of orders by the number of sessions or users and multiplying the result by 100%.
CR (%)=number of ordersnumber of sessions (or users)×100%
What affects a store's conversion rate?
Low conversion isn't always a problem with how the site looks. The conversion rate is affected by, among other things, how well the offer fits customers, prices, shipping costs, product presentation, trust in the store, site speed, available payment methods and the convenience of the checkout process.
How much traffic does a store need to start working together?
The store should generate regular sales and have data that the analysis can be based on. Lower traffic does not rule out cooperation, but it can limit the ability to run reliable A/B tests.
